Qualifications

  • Mindestens drei Jahre Erfahrung im Sicherheitsbereich der Transportbranche.
  • Erfahrung in der Durchführung von Vor-Ort-Sicherheitsinspektionen.

Job description

The Safety Advisor will be responsible for providing safety support and services to our drivers in our Ontario region. Duties include, but are not limited to, driver training, evaluations and support of the performance management program, regular customer site inspections, incident prevention, emergency response, incident and accident investigation, and reporting. This Safety Advisor will spend up to 85% of their time each week in the field working alongside our professional truck drivers and customers. The remaining 15% of their time will be spent in the office completing the various administrative tasks required to support the work in the field and maintain the high level of attention to safety we’ve built into our company culture.

SHIFT: 5 on,4 off, 3 on, 2 off rotation( every other weekend, 4 days off)

The successful candidate must reside near Oshawa to Pickering, ON regions

Key Responsibilities

  • Be present in the field. Conduct coaching-focused safe behavior observations, covert assessments, competency evaluations, and in-person driver mentorship aligned with established KPIs.
  • Lead incident response and investigations. Provide first-response support, lead root cause analysis, and contribute to corrective action planning that prevents recurrence.
  • Train with purpose. Support onboarding and refresher training for drivers and operations staff in partnership with the safety and dispatch teams.
  • Coach through compliance. Guide drivers and field staff on safe loading/unloading practices, hazardous materials handling, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Own field risk identification. Address hazards proactively by working with operations, leadership, and customers to implement practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Support the Drug and Alcohol program. Serve as an internal collector and promote safety-focused substance awareness with professionalism and discretion.
  • Engage with our teams and customers. Help align safety priorities with day-to-day dispatch needs and identify opportunities to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The INDIVIDUAL And QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years’ related safety experience in the transportation industry
  • Ability to be on call to attend to incidents that occur – flexibility is important!
  • Class AZ driver’s license is considered an asset
  • H2S and First Aid certifications an asset
  • Overnight travel to various sites may be required (incident response)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient written communication skills to accurately articulate the events, results and investigation of incidents to both internal and external audiences
  • Good working knowledge of the transportation industry and its operation with knowledge of a variety of commodities, including dangerous goods
  • Proficient in a Windows system environment
  • OH&S Certificate or courses is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the dispatch system, TMW is an asset
