Leonardo Canada Inc. (LCI) in Ottawa is seeking a Ruby on Rails Software Developer to join our expanding development team. The role involves building and scaling our platform within an agile environment, contributing to the product vision, and delivering across the full stack.

The position offers hybrid work flexibility with onsite presence in Ottawa, and exposure to cutting-edge defence and security projects for Canadian and international customers.

Qualifications

• 1–6 years of professional experience as a Ruby on Rails developer.
• Experience with version control tools (Git, GitHub, Bitbucket).
• Experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of building RESTful APIs and working with third-party APIs.
• Strong problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand product requirements and detailed system design.
• Translate system design to software architecture and implement features across the stack.
• Contribute to technical discussions and solution design.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Design and optimize database schemas.
• Monitor and improve database and system performance.
• Create unit, integration and functional tests.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and security.
• Debug and resolve application bugs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Owner, Systems, Software, Verification & Validation)
