Job summary

Lev Senior Living in Oshawa, ON, is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for a part-time role to provide compassionate nursing care to residents in a gerontology setting. You will assess residents, administer medications, maintain records, and contribute to individual care plans while ensuring safety and compliance with policies.

Ideal candidates hold an Ontario RPN license, CPR/First Aid, and additional certifications; the position offers evening shifts (3pm-11pm) and biweekly hours

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Certified in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and First Aid.
• Must obtain a feeding certificate and Food Handlers Certificate; Lift Training is an asset.
• Must have good leadership and communication skills.
• Maintains nursing skills through ongoing courses and seminars and/or self-study.
• Must complete Orientation and all ORCA and in-house training courses.
• Must be flexible to work all shifts where required.
• A good team player.
• Experience in gerontology setting will be an asset.
• Experience managing PSWs/UCPs.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents’ conditions by recognizing signs and symptoms and take appropriate action.
• Provide nursing care in accordance with policies, physician orders and nursing standards.
• Safely handle medication keys if responsible for medication administration.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered and document properly.
• Maintain resident records and documentation per policies and legislation.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date individual resident care plans.
• Monitor safety issues and follow-up on staff injuries as per policy.
• Maintain effective communication with medical staff, families and departments.
• Provide first aid to staff in emergencies and complete required reports.

Registered Practical Nurse, RPN (Part-Time)

Hourly Wage to Start: $25.18

Location: Oshawa, ON

Start Date: ASAP

Hours of Work: 30 hours biweekly, evening shift 3pm-11pm. Every other weekend required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Responsibilities:

• Assesses residents’ conditions by recognizing signs and symptoms and takes appropriate action.
• Provide nursing care, if applicable, in accordance with established policies, physicians order and nursing standards.
• Responsible for safe keeping of drug and narcotic keys if responsible for medication administration.
• Responsible for administration of medications and treatments as ordered by resident's physician within his/her limitations and ensures proper documentation is maintained.
• Accurately maintains resident records and required documentation in accordance with policies and procedures and legislation.
• Assists to develop and maintain up to date individual resident care plans.
• Monitors safety issues such as the presence of residents in the home, abuse, safe working methods and conditions, follow up to staff injury, etc., as per appropriate policy.
• Maintains effective communication and good interpersonal relations with medical and allied staff, families and other departments. Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, residents’ families, visitors and other professionals and staff members at all times.
• Provides first aid to staff in emergencies, completes all required reports and provides copies to Director of Care and/or General Manager as directed.
