Lev Senior Living in Oshawa, ON is seeking a part-time Personal Support Worker to join our caring team. You will provide personal care and social support to residents to help maintain their independence, health and well-being.

Night shifts 11:00 pm–7:00 am, 30 hours bi-weekly, every other weekend. The qualifications include a Personal Support Worker Certificate, CPR and First Aid, willingness to train as a UCP, and experience in retirement/health care preferred.

Qualifications

• Personal Support Worker Certificate required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Willingness to be trained as a UCP (Unregulated Care Provider).
• Experience in a retirement or health care setting preferred.
• Familiar with working in a unionized environment.
• Familiar with Infection Control procedures.
• Experience working with Seniors.
• Knowledge of nursing process and nursing diagnosis if nursing duties are performed.
• Must provide Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
• Complete Orientation and ORCA and in-house training.

Summary

This role is responsible for providing personal care and social support to residents with the goal of maintaining their personal independence, good health and well-being.

Hours

Qualifications:

• Personal Support Worker Certificate
• Certified in CPR and First Aid required.
• Willingness to be trained as a UCP (Unregulated Care Provider)

• Exhibits caring and compassion while working with residents.
• Required to provide Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
• Required to complete Orientation and all ORCA and in house training courses.
• UCP, Medication Administration
• Ability to prioritize, demonstrate flexibility and understanding.
• Ensure that all decisions and actions are responsible and, in the resident’s, best interest.
• Effective Communication/Interpersonal skills both verbal and written

Responsibilities:

• Performs those functions which provide for the support and care of residents with an acceptable standard of skill, with a sense of responsibility and respect for privacy and dignity.
• Assists in the process of observing, reporting and documenting the changes in the residents’ physical and emotional condition.
• Implement the plans of care for assigned residents as outlined by the Director of Care and provides input into care plans.
• Documents as per the home’s policies.
• Promotes comfort and safety for the residents.
• Promotes independence and wellness.
• Maintains effective communication and good human relations with residents, families and staff of other departments, using the appropriate lines of communication.
