Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph seeks a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for Complex Continuing Care.

The role involves providing direct nursing care, supervising staff, and collaborating with RNs to meet patient needs on a designated unit. The RPN will follow College of Nurses of Ontario standards and health centre policies, contribute to care planning, and participate in ongoing quality and equity initiatives.

Qualifications

• Registered Practical Nurse – Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
• Minimum one year experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Excellent organizational planning, time management and multi-tasking skills.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills, and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Member of the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario an asset.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes changes, probes further and consults with RN or health care team.
• Develops plans of care for less complex clients when outcomes are predictable.
• Coordinates care for less-complex clients and provides health teaching.
• Performs nursing interventions and collaborates with RNs for more complex clients.
• Acts as a preceptor to students and novice nurses; provides leadership.
• Represents nursing care issues in committees and regulatory activities.
