Job summary

Penfolds Roofing & Solar in Metro Vancouver is seeking a knowledgeable roofer to join our Production Department and help meet growing demand in roofing and renewable energy.

You will inspect roofs, remove old coverings, install shingles and coatings, erect rigging, and work safely at heights. The role emphasizes quality workmanship and a collaborative team environment, with RRSPs and extended health benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard vocational or high school or equivalent.
• Experience in roofing operations and ability to remove and install roofs.
• Knowledge of hazards and safety requirements of the trade.
• Ability to work at heights and on varied roof types.

Responsibilities

• Inspects composition shingles, cedar shakes/shingles, built-up, and metal roofs for leaks.
• Removes old roofs, installs insulation, felts, and performs repairs as indicated to leaking roofs.
• Installs shingles, slate shingles, roofing tiles, and flashings; applies coatings.
• Erects rigging; determines materials required for repairs and new roofs.
• May supervise other workers and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspects composition shingles, Cedar shakes/shingles, built-up, and metal roofs for leaks.
• Removes old roofs, installs roof insulation, felts, and performs repairs as indicated to leaking roofs.
• Installs composition shingles, slate shingles, roofing tiles, and flashings.
• Applies cold process roof coatings.
• Erects rigging.
• Determines materials required for roof repairs, flashing repairs, and the installation of new roofs.
• May supervise other workmen and laborers in the repair and replacement of roofs.
• Must carry out work in accordance with established safe work procedures as required by the OHS provisions and the regulations.
• Must use protective equipment, devices, and clothing as required by the regulations.
• Must refrain from any form of horseplay or similar conduct that may endanger the worker or any other person.
• Must ensure that his/her ability to work without risk to their health or safety, or to the health or safety of any other person, is not impaired by alcohol, drugs, or other causes.
• Must report to the supervisor or employer any unsafe act or behavior.
• Any other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

• Graduation from a standard vocational or high school.
• Experience in roofing operations.
• Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and methods utilized in roof repair and installation.
• Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety requirements of the trade
• Knowledge of various roofing materials and standard specifications for different roof types.
• Ability to remove and install roofs.
• Ability to erect necessary rigging.
• Ability to work at heights and on flat and inclined surfaces.
• Ability to climb ladders and set up work requirements in a safe manner.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Skill in the use of appropriate tools and equipment.
