Job summary

Volker Stevin in Alberta seeks an experienced Roller Operator to safely operate breakdown, rubber tire, and finish rollers on heavy civil projects across Lethbridge and Ft. McMurray.

This role emphasizes precision, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards while supporting multiple stages of asphalt finishing. You will perform regular maintenance, assist with project goals, mentor new hires, and travel between locations with travel coverage provided by the company.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience operating a roller.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract (≤6 demerits).
• Must be physically able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. repeatedly.
• Heavy Civil Construction or labor experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate breakdown rollers, rubber tire rollers, and finish rollers safely and efficiently.
• Perform regular maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
• Execute compaction passes to meet required smoothness and density.
• Adjust roller speed, pressure, and direction for material conditions.
• Mentor new employees on safe equipment operation.
• Travel between Lethbridge and Ft. McMurray as required; travel costs provided.
