Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a vigilant Security Guard for a government infrastructure site in Vancouver. You will patrol facilities, monitor safety, and coordinate with responders to maintain a secure environment for staff and the public.

The role requires clear communication, strong integrity, and the ability to work at a fast pace while handling stressful situations. OFA2 certification and background clearance are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Previous security industry experience preferred, at a complex site.
• Must have OFA2 certification and be willing to obtain/maintain it.
• Must pass BC Courthouse Clearance background check.
• Flexible availability to meet scheduling needs.
• Proficient with CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm and Intrusion Alarm systems.

Responsibilities

• Patrol facilities on foot to ensure security of people, property and equipment.
• Watch for irregularities and report emergencies; liaise with responders as needed.
• Use two-way radios and computer systems to communicate site activities.
• Write thorough incident reports and documentation.
• Provide assistance to individuals in need.
• Perform other duties to meet operational needs.

Security Guard - Government Infrastructure

This site is a large, complex, and high profile site, and offers excellent opportunity for career growth. The location of this site and its community make it so that no two days are ever the same. Our team faces high-stress situations daily, including medical emergencies, theft in progress, crowd control, dealing with members of the public under the influence or drugs or alcohol, and much more, in addition to regular patrols, surveillance, documentation, wayfinding, and lockups, while working closely with the BC Sheriffs’ Services.

Responsibilities:

• Patrol the facilities on foot to ensure personal, building, and equipment security
• Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required
• Utilize two-way radio and computer applications for communicating site activities
• Write thorough and detailed reports of incidents
• Offer support to any person in need of assistance
• Other duties as required to meet operational needs

Requirements:

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
• Prior work experience in the security industry, ideally at a site of similar complexity
• Must have (or will be willing and able to obtain and maintain) OFA2 certification
• Ability to pass a BC Courthouse Clearance (background check)
• Flexible availability to allow scheduling based on operational needs.
• Strong computer skills; ability to operate security systems (e.g CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Intrusion Alarm)
