ROBOTICS DIRECTOR AND CURRICULUM LEADER

St. Clement's School (“the School”) is currently looking for a Robotics Director and Curriculum Leader to join our School on a full-time basis commencing on August 25, 2025 with an Orientation Day on August 21, 2025. This is an opportunity for a passionate educator and innovator to shape the future of our robotics program and inspire students to explore and engage in hands-on learning. The Robotics Director and Curriculum Leader combines leadership, teaching, and program development to lead and expand our offerings in these fields and will report to the Heads of School.

The role of Robotics Director is the equivalent of 1.0-2.0 sections. The role of Curriculum Leader is the equivalent of 1.0 section and has a term of 4 years with the possibility to re-apply at the end of the term. The remaining sections will consist of teaching.

Key Responsibilities

Robotics Director

  • Lead and support the School's co-curricular programming for Robotics including planning, supervising, and attending competitions and events;
  • Lead and support Robotics teams; organize and participate in trips and activities which fall before and after school hours and on weekends; and
  • Foster a spirit of team building, creativity, and collaboration while supporting students in the development of the skills and knowledge needed to design, build, and maintain robotics for learning and competition.

Curriculum Leader and Teaching Responsibilities

  • Be an active member of the School's Curriculum Leadership Team;
  • As a member of the Curriculum Leadership Team, contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of a cohesive, School-wide approach to curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogy;
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to the department to create a collaborative and supportive environment; support department staff through performance, growth, and professional development goals and needs;
  • Support improvement of instruction in the School through the structures created for teachers to learn together and from one another;
  • Serve as a liaison between teachers and School leadership so that School-level decisions are informed by ongoing, two-way communication between teachers and other School leaders;
  • Teach intermediate and senior-level Computer Science and Technology courses;
  • Lead department meetings and communicate expectations;
  • Maintain consistent and open dialogue within the department to encourage growth in curriculum development;
  • Participate in the process of hiring new staff, as needed; and
  • Engagement and full participation in the life of the School.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES OF OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Honours Bachelor degree and Honours Specialist qualifications in Computer Studies, Computer Sciences, or Technological Education; Master's degree an asset;
  • Bachelor of Education (Junior / Intermediate or Intermediate / Senior) and hold a Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers;
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching in Computer Studies and / or Technological Education;
  • Prior experience in Robotics and managing active and innovative maker-spaces;
  • Experience teaching online Computer Science courses an asset;
  • Advanced knowledge of current educational programming languages and development environments as well as advanced knowledge of information and communication technologies and their use;
  • Strong relationship building skills and an ability to lead and develop people including strong initiative, teamwork, and instructional ability;
  • Demonstrated ability to improve instructional practice, foster a collaborative team environment, and to plan in close collaboration with colleagues;
  • Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate experience an asset; and
  • Commitment to co-curricular activities, coaching, and full participation in school life.
