Job summary

Walters Group, a Hamilton-based steel contractor, seeks a Welding Cell Operator to produce parts with robotic welding, design fixtures in SolidWorks, and program the robot. You will read blueprints, source materials, and ensure accuracy while maintaining equipment and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of robotic welding experience, understanding of welding/fitting, and can operate cranes and forklifts; team collaboration is essential in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in welding robotics or related field.
  • 2 years experience with robotic welding equipment.
  • Understanding of welding and fitting.
  • Basic programming knowledge.
  • Knowledge of fixture design.
  • Knowledge of touch sensing and seam tracking.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and procedures.
  • A team player in a collegial yet demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Producing quality parts on time using the robotic welder.
  • Analyzes production drawings to determine fixtures needed.
  • Designs fixtures in SolidWorks for robot use.
  • Sources material to create and build the fixture.
  • Installs fixtures in the robot cell and loads parts.
  • Programs machine for automatic or manual cycle.
  • Performs routine maintenance on the robot.
  • Ensures correct loading and proper programming; unloads pieces.
