Job summary

City of Hamilton is seeking an Operator, Roads to support the Transportation Division's Roadway Maintenance Section. You will perform road repairs, shoulder maintenance, ditching, mowing, and general upkeep across urban and rural sites, with safety and documentation responsibilities.

The role requires a valid DZ license, ability to work various shifts including evenings and weekends, and the stamina to operate heavy equipment and power tools in all weather.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated roads maintenance experience and training.
• Willing to work rotating shifts including days, afternoons, nights and holidays.
• Able to read and follow logs, forms and procedures.
• Knowledge of OHSA and WHMIS regulations.
• Must lift 23 kg and occasionally up to 45 kg.
• Valid DZ licence with Z endorsement and clean abstract.

Responsibilities

• Repair road surfaces and maintain shoulders and ditches.
• Operate and inspect heavy equipment and tools.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections and basic maintenance.
• Complete logs and reports; document daily activities.
• Assist with traffic control, litter removal and street maintenance.
• Work in urban or rural locations with variable conditions.
