Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Pediatric ICU RN to care for critically ill children in the SJCH unit. You will apply the nursing process, monitor vitals, and coordinate with the care team to ensure high-quality pediatric critical care.

Requires RN license, BLS, and PICU experience. On-site, nights shift 6:45 PM–7:15 AM; weekends alternate. Focus on family-centered care and documentation with compassionate communication.

Qualifications

• RN license required and active
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a Pediatric Critical Care (PICU) setting

Responsibilities

• Care for pediatric patients through recovery in pediatric critical care
• Monitor and record vitals; update care team
• Identify sudden changes in patient condition
• Respond to medical emergencies for critical pediatric patients
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals for continuity of care
• Use high emotional intelligence to communicate medical concepts to patients and families

Position Description

RN- Pediatric ICU

The Pediatric ICU Registered Nurse in critical care works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of Pediatric ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards. Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team. The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric ICU is also responsible for professional accountability and development.

• Care for pediatric patient needs throughout their recovery in pediatric critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical pediatric patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license
• BLS
• Associates Degree in Nursing
• At least 1 year of RN experience in a Pediatric Critical Care setting - PICU
