Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), client and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Community Health Services practices according to provincial legislation, nursing standards, the BC College of Nurses and Midwives code of ethics, employer policies, and individual competencies. Provides nursing care in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.

The RN works in various clinical settings, collaborating with clients, healthcare teams, and primary care providers. Utilizes a community-focused approach to deliver client-centered care aimed at maintaining and improving health, including health promotion, maintenance, restoration, prevention, treatment, and palliative care. Responsibilities include health assessment, planning, intervention, and service coordination.

Qualifications
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN
  • Two years' recent related experience or equivalent
  • Valid BC driver's license
Skills and Abilities
  • Provide client-focused, trauma-informed, and culturally safe care
  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments and deliver evidence-based nursing care
  • Effective communication skills for interprofessional collaboration and respectful practice
  • Ability to instruct clients and others about health topics
