Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), client and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. The requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Registered Nurse (RN) Community Health Services practices according to relevant provincial legislation, nursing standards, the code of ethics outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), employer policies, and individual competencies. Provides nursing care following organizational policies, procedures, guidelines, and practice controls.
The RN works in various clinical settings, collaborating with clients, their healthcare teams, and primary care providers. Utilizes a community-focused approach to deliver client-centered care aimed at maximizing health through promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health, as well as prevention, treatment, and palliation of illness and injury. Responsibilities include health assessment, planning, intervention, and health service coordination.
