Job summary

Central-Smith-Creamery is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a full-time position in Ontario. You will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant.

The candidate will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, interpret manuals and schematics, and document work orders while supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed Industrial Millwright (433A) or Licensed Electrician (309A) or equivalent recognized trade certification.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls.
  • Proven experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and comply with all safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns, diagnose root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance activities during planned downtime to support reliability.

Maintenance Full Time Sewlyn, ON $30 - $42 CAD per hour

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production and facility equipment. This hands-on position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and systems through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver committed to operational excellence, equipment reliability, and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production and processing equipment to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Respond promptly to emergency and unplanned equipment breakdowns, diagnosing root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance activities during planned downtime to support equipment reliability and plant productivity.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Replace defective components, test equipment performance, and make operational adjustments as required.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, schematics, and work orders.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, electrical testing instruments, and material handling equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment improvements and report recurring issues, defective materials, or unsafe operating conditions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and preventative maintenance documentation within established systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace health and safety by adhering to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Consistently wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all manufacturing area protocols.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, uniforms, and workspaces are maintained in accordance with company standards.
  • Promptly report incidents, accidents, hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses through established reporting procedures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
