Job summary

The Restorative Initiatives Unit of the Department of Justice in Halifax seeks a collaborative Restorative Justice Consultant to lead outreach, build partnerships, and expand access to restorative justice across Nova Scotia. You will work with diverse communities and justice system actors to advance strategic initiatives and advance restorative approaches.

You will support equity, anti-racism and intersectionality across RIU projects, travel within the province, and contribute to ongoing

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant discipline such as social sciences or humanities.
  • Experience advancing community engagement, outreach, justice transformation, systems change, restorative justice.
  • Experience with historically excluded communities and equitable access initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead community outreach and communications to build trust in restorative justice.
  • Partner with referral sources and justice partners to improve referrals and access.
  • Identify barriers to equitable access for marginalized groups and address them.
  • Foster cross-sector collaborations to improve NSRJP processes and policies.
  • Develop and deliver learning opportunities about NSRJP and restorative principles.
