Job summary

Hawkesbury General Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our full-time, on-site team. You will respond to crises, deliver high-quality respiratory care, and support critical care and the birthing unit with expert use of respiratory equipment.

You must hold the General Certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario, have hospital experience, and be up to date with BCLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP. Bilingual English and French communication is required.

Qualifications

• General Certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario, without terms, conditions or limitations.
• Have hospital experience in a relevant setting.
• Demonstrate experience in critical care and pulmonary function testing.
• Be up to date with BCLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications (or offered in-house).
• Ability to communicate effectively in French and English.

Responsibilities

• Respond to cardiopulmonary crises to restore ventilation and circulation.
• Deliver high-quality respiratory care as part of the interprofessional healthcare team.
• Be a key member of the Critical Care Response Team and Code Blue Team.
• Set up, maintain, and monitor respiratory equipment.
• Provide therapy coverage in the birthing unit, critical care unit, ED, wards, endoscopy unit and pulmonary function lab.
• Provide coaching and education to assist patients in self-management.
• Act as a smoking cessation advisor.
• Share knowledge with students and staff.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement and emergency preparedness.
• Promote health.

• Pay or shift range: $41.15 CAD to $58.98 CAD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Description

Hawkesbury General Hospital is looking for a Respiratory Therapist whose versatility and ability to prioritize are matched only by their exemplary customer approach and empathy.

On a daily basis, you will:

• Respond to cardiopulmonary crises to help restore ventilation and blood circulation, and assist in the transport of ill and unstable patients;
• Deliver high-quality respiratory care as an integral part of the interprofessional healthcare team
• Key member of Critical Care Response Team and Code Blue Team
• Responsible for the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of respiratory equipment.
• Providing Respiratory Therapy coverage in the birthing unit, critical care unit, emergency department, wards, endoscopy unit and the pulmonary function lab.
• Provide coaching, pulmonary education and rehabilitation to assist patients in the self-management of their condition and improve their quality of life;
• Act as a smoking cessation advisor;
• Share your skills and knowledge to students and staff;
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement and emergency preparedness;
• Promote health.

PERMANENT FULL-TIME

• 8 or 12 hours shift
• Day, Night, and week-end shifts - subject to change
