Job summary
The Manitoba Government is seeking motivated individuals to fill the role of Resource Management Technician (RS2) in the Winnipegosis District. Under supervision, you will assist in delivering the multi-discipline resource management program in field and administrative settings, addressing human-wildlife conflicts and maintaining district infrastructure.
You will accompany district Conservation Officers on patrols by boat, snowmobile, ATV, and other modes, and provide guidance for backcountry
Qualifications

- Maintains district infrastructure, buildings and grounds.
- Handles wildlife management and human-wildlife conflicts.

The Department of Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is seeking highly motivated individuals interested in filling the role of Resource Management Technician(s) (RS2) in the Winnipegosis District
Under the supervision and guidance of the District Conservation Officers (CO’s), the employee aids with the delivery of the departments multi-discipline resource management program, both in field and administratively. The incumbent deals with human-wildlife conflicts and maintains the district infrastructure, equipment, and grounds. This position will also accompany the district CO's on various types of patrols throughout the season (ie: boat, snowmobile, atv, etc.) and provides guidance on backcountry areas of the district.

- Experienced in the operation and maintenance of district equipment (ATV, small engines, boats and motors, trailers).
- Experience in performing infrastructure and building maintenance and repair using power and hand tools.
- Experience and knowledge with problem wildlife management practices.
- Experience in safely operating and navigating larger boats on large bodies of water, including under varying weather and water conditions.
- Ability to start tasks on own initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to make safe and effective decisions under stressful situations.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Experience with safe firearm use and handling.
- Experience with wildlife biological sampling, data collection and maintaing records.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess and maintain a valid full Manitoba Class 5F driver's licence.
