Job summary

Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka is seeking a Host to oversee the daily operations of its three restaurant outlets—Compass, Drift and Maple Pub—ensuring guest experiences meet the resort’s high standards while managing labour and cost controls.

Reporting to the Manager of Food & Beverage, the successful candidate will lead service teams, recruit and coach staff, schedule effectively, and collaborate with other departments to deliver seamless hospitality across the property.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive food and beverage leadership experience.
• Experience managing multiple outlets simultaneously.
• Smart Serve Certification.
• Proficiency with POS systems, scheduling software, and Google applications.
• Valid driver’s license considered an asset.
• Ability to be flexible with schedule – days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of three restaurant outlets (Compass, Drift & Maple Pub).
• Maintain exceptional guest service standards and resolve guest concerns promptly.
• Ensure service consistency, presentation, cleanliness and guest experience.
• Monitor outlet performance and implement strategies to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Coordinate operational needs across restaurants, lounges, banquets and events.
• Support in recruiting, training, coaching and developing team members.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, high-performance workplace culture.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and manage staffing schedules to control labour costs.
