Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Residential Driver to operate an Automated Side-Load truck on residential routes, conduct safety inspections, and ensure timely curbside collection with a focus on safety and customer service.

You will work with Helpers and Supervisors, follow route schedules, log details, and maintain the vehicle’s cleanliness. A valid CDL and driving experience are essential, with growth opportunities within GFL’s national network.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or above in Ontario) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Safety-sensitive operational role requirements and standards.
• Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and OT when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) collection truck along assigned residential routes.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Curbside Collection: Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• System Operations: Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and PPE standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements
