Valdek Construction is looking for an experienced Residential Construction Superintendent to join our team in Winnipeg. This on-site leadership role requires a practical, hands-on professional who can keep residential renovation and construction projects organized, moving forward, and held to high standards of safety and workmanship.

You will oversee day-to-day activities, coordinate trades and materials, review plans, and ensure timely progress.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of carpentry experience on residential renovation projects.
• Red Seal certification or equivalent leadership-experience is preferred.
• Previous experience as a Superintendent or similar construction leadership role.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily residential construction activities and site operations.
• Coordinate trades, team members, materials, and site activities.
• Review project plans, layouts, measurements, and construction requirements.
• Monitor workmanship and verify that work is being completed correctly.

Winnipeg, MB | Full-time | On-site | $36-$40 per hour

Valdek Construction is looking for an experienced Residential Construction Superintendent to join our team in Winnipeg.

This is an important leadership role for someone who understands residential construction, can keep work organized and moving forward, and has the technical judgment to identify problems before they become bigger problems.

We are looking for someone who does more than oversee a job. We want a construction professional who can take ownership, communicate clearly, hold the work to a high standard, and help ensure projects are completed correctly and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

As Superintendent, you will oversee day-to-day construction activities on residential renovation and construction projects. You will work closely with the team to coordinate site activities, maintain quality, anticipate challenges, and keep projects moving.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Oversee daily construction activities and site operations
• Coordinate trades, team members, materials, and site activities
• Review project plans, layouts, measurements, and construction requirements
• Monitor workmanship and verify that work is being completed correctly
• Identify potential issues early and work through practical solutions
• Ensure materials, tools, equipment, and other job requirements are ready when needed
• Track project progress and communicate updates, concerns, and changes to the team
• Help maintain project schedules and keep work moving efficiently
• Coordinate with project leadership when decisions or additional resources are needed
• Maintain organized, safe, and professional job sites
• Ensure construction work follows appropriate safety and quality practices
• Help identify problems before they affect the schedule, budget, or quality of the project
• Provide direction and support to carpenters, trades, and other team members on site
• Take ownership of site-level issues and follow through until they are resolved

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a practical, experienced construction leader who can think ahead and keep a project moving without constant supervision.

The right candidate will have:

• 5+ years of carpentry experience with a wide range of residential renovation work; finish carpentry is a strong asset
• Red Seal certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred (top of the wage range reflects certification and proven leadership)
• Previous experience as a Superintendent, Site Superintendent, Lead Carpenter, Foreman, or similar construction leadership role
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods and sequencing
• The ability to read and understand construction plans and project requirements
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong organizational and logistical skills
• The ability to anticipate construction challenges before they become problems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with different people on a job
• The ability to hold yourself and others accountable for completing work correctly
• The ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
• A strong commitment to safety, quality, and professional workmanship
