Job summary

Mission Community Services Society is seeking a part-time resident support worker to assist clients in achieving personal goals and life skills in a supportive setting. You will participate in assessments, plan development, and ongoing wellness checks while coordinating with local resources to promote safety and wellbeing.

You will provide emotional support, crisis intervention when needed, and help residents engage in meaningful activities aligned with care plans.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in a related human / social service field plus a minimum of one-year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Must have a current First Aid certificate, completion of NVCI or MANDT.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in assessment, goal setting and program planning for clients.
  • Provide supervision and support to mitigate risk and ensure safety, comfort, and wellness.
  • Collaborate with community resources for each client.
  • Involve clients in decision making to improve identity and self-esteem.
  • Complete wellness checks and monitor security on property.
  • Provide crisis intervention as required and assist with medical service access.
  • Maintain and submit reports, statistics, logbooks, and daily activities.
  • Deliver life skills training such as meal prep, housekeeping, personal care, and budgeting.

Job description

Support participants in a residential setting to identifyindividual goals and develop life skills necessary to live as independentlyas possible. Service delivery is based on a client centered, trauma informedand non-judgmental perspective.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Participate in the assessment, goal setting and programplanning for clients.
  • Provide supervision and support to mitigate individual andprogram risk to ensure safety, comfort, and wellness.
  • Work closely with identified community resources for eachclient.
  • Actively involve clients in decision making to improvetheir own identity, purpose, and self-esteem.
  • Complete wellness checks/room checks.
  • Monitor and move along community members who are loiteringin and around the property.
  • Provide crisis intervention as required including overdoseresponses by ensuring immediate access to medical services and completingnecessary critical incident reports.
  • Maintain and submit accurate reports and statistics,logbooks, and daily activities.
  • Participate in the assessment, goal setting and programplanning.
  • Provide life skills training such as meal preparation,housekeeping, personal care skills and personal finance and implementpersonal service plans.
  • Participate in various client-focused activities inaccordance with care plans.
  • Provide emotional support and feedback to residents andtheir families.
  • Identify social, economic, recreational, and educationalservices in the community to meet clients’ needs.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
What you bring:
  • Certificate in a related human / social service field plusa minimum of one-year recent related experience, or
  • an equivalent combination of education, training, andexperience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook,Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Must have a current First Aid certificate, completion ofNVCI or MANDT.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain clear Criminal RecordCheck for the vulnerable sector.
  • Relevant knowledge about substance use, addiction, mentalillness, and recovery.

Schedule: Temporary, Part-Time, Saturday & Sunday- 12am – 8am (16 hours per week)
