Job summary

The University of Regina is seeking a Research Technologist in the Faculty of Science, Unit Science-Physics, to contribute to the mPMT LED light-injection system. The role emphasizes precise assembly, testing, and data handling within a collaborative research setting.

You will operate advanced laboratory equipment, manage records, and support routine testing and QC workflows, coordinating with staff and students to maintain productive lab operations.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on laboratory, mechanical, electronic, or instrumentation assembly experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and documentation.
  • Good organizational and planning skills to track components and measurements.
  • Ability to work independently after training and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and computer data handling skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, prepare, handle, and inspect detector and optical components.
  • Conduct quality-control measurements of optical diffusers and LED collimators using test systems.
  • Operate laboratory instrumentation, cameras, photodiodes, electronic test equipment, and data-acquisition systems.
  • Prepare test fixtures, perform alignment, and follow safety procedures.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze measurement data; document records and QC outcomes.
  • Maintain and improve laboratory test setups and production procedures.
  • Coordinate day-to-day lab activities with researchers and students.
