Job summary

Xanadu is seeking a Lab Technician to join our Hardware team in Ontario. You will work closely with photonic chip designers to assist with lab work, prepare samples, perform optical measurements, and analyze data.

The role requires hands-on experience with optical fibres, sample preparation, and precision metrology in a dynamic environment. Strong candidates have 2+ years in a lab, a BSc in a relevant field, and a detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• BSc (or equiv.) in Engineering, Science, or related field.
• 2+ years in a lab with optical/test/fibre optic equipment.
• Experience with cleaving and splicing optical fibers for low-loss transmission.
• Experience with high-precision optical measurements.
• Basic knowledge of optics/waveguide components.
• Basic material handling and sample prep.
• Basic microscopy techniques.
• Detail-oriented with a positive attitude.
• Highly motivated and eager to learn.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interface with photonic chip designers and engineers for lab work.
• Prepare samples and perform optical measurements and metrology.
• Acquire data, analyze results, and report findings to stakeholders.
• Assist with hardware assembly and optical setup preparation.
• Maintain careful documentation and lab safety practices.
