The University of Toronto’s Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering invites applications for a Project Manager, Research (TERM, 50% FTE) at the St. George campus in downtown Toronto.

The role coordinates a portfolio of research projects led by Professors Heather MacLean, Daniel Posen and Shoshanna Saxe, engaging students, staff and external partners to ensure timely progress and deliverables. You will develop schedules, manage budgets, draft funding applications, prepare reports and liaise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent and related experience in managing large scale projects and administering research grants and applications.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing, including grant applications, correspondence, project materials and reports.
  • Demonstrated experience administering research grants, coordinating activities with research partners and applying/enforcing sponsor and financial policies and procedures.
  • Experience researching, identifying and advising on funding opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and facilitate others to do so.
  • Organizational skills to track and maintain project timelines and dissemination of deliverables.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applications
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
  • Drafting funding applications
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Writing and editing reports to support initiatives
  • Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets
