Description Of Research Project Or Team
The Research Assistant (RA) will function as an RA in the dermatology research program and will assist with several funded projects. The individual will work closely with and assist Dr. Aaron Drucker and study team members in research and program administrative tasks for multiple studies that mainly focus on the epidemiology and evidence-based management of skin diseases. Studies include both primary clinical data collection, systematic reviews and secondary analyses of population-based data.
Summary Of Duties, But Not Limited To
- Assists in conducting systematic reviews, including study screening, data abstraction and study quality/risk of bias assessment
- May assist with grant writing and submissions; prepare forms, budgets, appendices and other documents as required
- Communicate with Dr. Drucker and other study/project team members to provide updates on projects and provide support in research related administrative tasks
- Support submission of manuscripts to scientific journals – may involve creating tables, figures, proof reading, preparation of cover letter, coordinating documents to sign, electronic submission
- Work with research team on site to recruit participants and collect data in clinical research studies
- Some understanding of research design and research ethics
- Prepare and submit Research Ethics Board related documents
- Completes review of medical records to collect research data
- Document participant communication in research studies as set out in study protocol
- Completes data entry and quality control ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data collection; may investigate missing or invalid data and prepare data sets
- Help maintain research files to store, access, and retrieve study data as specified at one or more sites
- Schedules and attends research meetings, including preparing agendas and meeting summaries
- Prioritizes and monitors various study deadlines for their own work
- Provides other administrative support as required, including filing, photocopying, acquiring signatures and CV maintenance
- May assist team members with preparing materials for proposals, progress reports, presentations, and publications
- May assist in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and the interpretation of results

Qualifications/Skills
- Undergraduate degree in Epidemiology, Public health or a related field or one year of equivalent experience
- Some experience in a health research setting preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Work efficiently under pressure with strong judgement and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Computer competency including familiarity with databases (e.g.,REDCap), EndNote, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
- Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
