Job description

Research Assistant I

Our research team in the Division of Respirology at St. Michael’s Hospital is currently seeking a Research Assistant I. The role involves supporting the development and implementation of quality improvement eHealth tools for primary care and pharmacy settings. The position requires adherence to research protocols and collaboration with study staff and the Principal Investigator (PI) to execute study tasks.

Responsibilities include screening and consenting participants, coordinating study logistics, moderating interviews and focus groups, and collecting and entering study data. This is a hybrid role, with opportunities for both remote and in-person work depending on study needs.

Research Activities
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performing general office duties such as filing, faxing, mailing, courier services, photocopying, etc.
  • Interpreting and implementing research protocols
  • Maintaining, transcribing, and entering study-related data
  • Performing data collection through chart review
  • Assisting the PI with new research initiatives, including preparing submissions to the research ethics board and setting project goals
  • Coordinating with hospital departments and external stakeholders to facilitate study activities
  • Organizing and analyzing qualitative data, and generating reports to support the study
  • Recruiting and coordinating study participants, including obtaining consent and scheduling visits
  • Administering surveys using online tools like SurveyMonkey
  • Facilitating participant compensation and traveling to participant sites as needed
Cross-Functional and Other Duties:
  • Carrying out duties with a focus on patient and employee safety and confidentiality
  • Ensuring compliance with confidentiality and safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or 1 year of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in a clinical research setting preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Attention to detail and quick learner
  • Professional, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
