Job summary

We are seeking a talented and forward-thinking Research Analyst I with experience in conducting applied research, and a passion for improving healthcare through technology and education. This role will support the responsible AI project based out of the Digital Compassion Lab, and is focused on designing innovative educational programs that empower healthcare professionals to use AI-enabled tools responsibly.

Our mission at the Digital Compassion Lab is to change healthcare delivery for all by designing and evaluating thoughtful digital technologies. that are compassionate and empowering to patients as well as healthcare professionals. We work tirelessly with local and international minds from multidisciplinary areas like education, design, technology, informatics, and health fields to transform health systems around the globe.

Embedded within Toronto General Hospital, we are a part of one of the largest medical research centres in North America and have unparalleled access to insights from those who use our healthcare system the most - patients and their clinicians. Due to this unique positioning and our vast skill set, our work is making an impact right now in the areas of adoption of artificial intelligence, knowledge management approaches to promote continuing professional development, and compassionate care delivery when using digital technologies.

Duties
As an integral member of the Digital Compassion Lab Responsible AI Project Team, you would provide research support to deliverables and studies within the responsible AI project. Your core responsibilities would include, but not limited to:

  • Conduct literature reviews including scoping reviews, environmental scans
  • Conduct qualitative research including study design, data collectionand analyses
  • Recruit and consent study participants to join research studies and ongoing support
  • Support data collection activities, including interviewing and facilitating focus groups
  • Prepare research ethics board documentation and amendments
  • Build and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare conference presentations and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication
  • Project reporting, including tracking as well as communicating study status and risks
Qualifications
  • Experience with qualitative research including study design, data collectionand thematic analysis is essential. Ability to useNVivo is a strong asset.
  • Experience in health research from initial study designto manuscript preparation is essential. Ability to conduct needs analysis is a strong asset.
  • At minimum, 1years of related experience in a research environment,in an analyst or coordinator capacityas an integral part of a research team.
  • At minimum, a Masters Degree in a health-related field (e.g., health sciences, public health, health informatics, psychology, health education, nursing, occupational therapy)
  • Familiarity with theories of digital health evaluation, IDEAA (inclusivity, diversity, equity, accessibility and anti-racism), and co-design is a strong asset
  • Proven ability to be resourceful, learn quickly, change directions, and navigate complex decision making in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, focused on building relationships, and working in a collaborative environment with diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication, including strong presentations skills and attention to detail
