Reporting Analyst, Business Intelligence Services
Full-Time 18-Month Contract - Competition #25-32
Position Summary
As a member of the Business Intelligence Services department, the Reporting Analyst plays a crucial role in enhancing ASEBP's ability to fulfill its mandate. This position will be responsible for developing ad hoc and operational reports across a wide variety of business data sources, conducting thorough analysis, and communicating findings to support various business processes and strategic initiatives. The Reporting Analyst will work closely with internal business customers and subject matter experts and balance a workload consisting of day-to-day management of service requests assigned through a ticketing system combined with some ongoing project work.
Your Key Responsibilities
Report Development:
- Create complex queries and stored procedures for use in reporting solutions.
- Respond to reporting requests from various business areas.
- Provide advice and interpretation of corporate data to solve business problems
- Analyze information needs and develop reports for internal and external clients.
- Develop and support automated data extraction and scheduled reporting processes.
- Document procedures and automated processes.
Report Administration
- Manage day-to-day report requests through a service request ticketing system, ensuring adherence to defined service standards and timely resolution of requests.
- Perform monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance improvements across the MS SQL Server Reporting Services environment.
- Create and deploy external facing reports on an ad-hoc basis through our customer portal.
- Establish, maintain, and review organizational report metadata catalogues and user access permissions.
- Regularly update queries and reports to ensure accuracy as business processes evolve.
- Identify and address data issues within the data warehouse and other source systems.
Your Education And Experience- Completion of a two-year technical or community college certificate in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
- Three to five years of related experience.
- Demonstrable experience working with:
- Microsoft SQL Server and Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Data Modelling and Database Design
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with dimensional modelling within PowerBI is an asset
Your Abilities
- Strong understanding of relational database structures and their implementation.
- Proven ability to work effectively with large volumes of data across business lines.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in T-SQL, including writing efficient queries and stored procedures
- Expertise in query profiling, data filtering, and data cleansing.
- Ability to work independently and manage workflow and priorities effectively.
- Strong customer service focus with the ability to meet diverse client needs.
- Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, perseverance, and integrity.
- Effective time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects with varying timelines.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
This position is eligible to participate in the hybrid workforce program. Please note that while this position offers a hybrid work environment, successful candidates are required to be located in the Edmonton area, as in-office presence during specified days is essential to foster collaboration and team dynamics.
