Job summary

Sobeys is looking for a Grocery Clerk to join our team in Toronto. You will perform a full range of duties, delivering friendly customer service and supporting store operations with accuracy and pace.

In this role, you’ll follow food safety protocols and SOPs, merchandise stock, assist customers, and help train junior staff. You’ll thrive in a busy environment, maintaining clean, organized areas and contributing to a welcoming shopping experience.

• Physically capable of lifting up to 20 lbs and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to food safety protocols, SOPs, and health and safety policies.
• Order, receive, and merchandise stock per inventory procedures.
• Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs.
• Promote featured products to increase store sales.
• Maintain back shop and retail floor to keep areas clean and presentable.
• Prepare customer orders as required.
• Process department shrink as required.
• Train junior staff as required.
• Other duties as required.

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for carrying out the full range of duties of the position in a professional, responsible, accurate and timely fashion. The Clerk will deliver exceptional customer service, foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs, and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

Here’s where you’ll have an impact:

• Adhere to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety, corporate policies, and other programs and initiatives
• Order, receive, and merchandise stock in accordance with company inventory control procedures, as required
• Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs
• Increase store sales by actively promoting featured products
• Perform back shop and retail floor maintenance, keeping work area clean and presentable as per Company requirements
• Prep Customer orders, as required
• Process department shrink, as required
• Participate in the training of junior staff
• Other duties as required
