Job summary

Lever, Inc. in Canada is seeking a Software Craftsperson/Typescript-II for a remote role focused on building scalable, production-grade systems with AI/LLM technologies.

You will own end-to-end development, design and implement backends in TypeScript, build AI-powered features with agents and modern tooling, and mentor peers in engineering excellence.

The team values craftsmanship, TDD, CI/CD, and collaboration with distributed clients and teams; Chrome Extensions experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience with a demonstrated track record of owning and delivering complex production systems.
• Strong hands-on experience developing production-grade applications using TypeScript.
• Practical experience developing AI- or LLM-powered applications, including AI agents and agentic workflows.
• Experience with OpenAI, Claude, or comparable LLM ecosystems.
• Experience with Mastra or similar LLM/agent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience building/integrating Chrome Extensions and browser-based apps.
• Understanding of Responsible AI principles, including evaluation, reliability, safety, privacy, and handling of outputs.
• Experience using AI skills/tools to extend AI agents.
• Strong system-design capabilities and Agile/XP practices.
• REST/gRPC APIs, relational databases, performance optimization, CI/CD, and good documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own complex software initiatives end to end, from design and implementation through testing, production readiness, and ongoing improvement.
• Build and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using TypeScript with strong craftsmanship principles.
• Design and deliver production-ready features balancing scope, quality, performance, and maintainability.
• Build AI-powered applications and workflows using LLMs, AI agents, and agentic frameworks.
• Work with OpenAI, Claude and similar ecosystems to create reliable AI experiences.
• Identify risks and drive solutions beyond the immediate scope.
• Contribute to engineering excellence through tests, refactoring, tooling, and DevEx.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to clarify requirements and align technical work.
• Mentor engineers and foster a learning culture.
• Apply AI-assisted workflows to accelerate design, development, and delivery.
• Build and integrate browser-based experiences, including Chrome Extensions when needed.
