Job summary

Side is seeking a Senior Level Artist to own game spaces from blockout to final polish, balancing gameplay layout with world-building and visual composition. You'll work with a library of pre-generated assets to create, refine, and integrate spaces that are both visually compelling and effective to play.

This is a remote freelance contract for approximately 3–6 months, with up to 40 hours per week of support needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in level design, level art, or world building.
• Portfolio showing real-time environments built in-engine with player perspective.
• Deep Unreal Engine experience owning gameplay layout and visual execution.
• Strong literacy in player flow, navigation, and spatial composition.
• Experience owning spaces through multiple development stages (shipped/cancelled/personal).
• Proven ability to manage streaming, HLODs, draw calls, and memory budgets.
• Proficiency with Unreal PCG and Houdini.

Responsibilities

• Own spaces from blockout through final polish, balancing gameplay layout with visual composition.
• Create, refine, and integrate assets into cohesive play spaces.
• Make decisions about player flow, sightlines, and navigation to support gameplay.
