Salary Range: $19.00 To $24.00 Hourly
$19-$24/hour | Fully Remote | Canada
Are you someone who can talk to almost anyone, tell a great story and get genuinely excited about something you care about?
Public Outreach is hiring Remote Phone Fundraisers to represent nonprofit organizations working on important humanitarian, environmental and social-impact causes.
This is a fundraising job that happens to be remote - not a casual work-from-home position.
You’ll spend your shifts actively speaking with nonprofit supporters, building connections, asking for monthly donations and working toward clear fundraising goals.
This isn't cold calling, and it isn't commission-only sales.
You’ll speak with people who have already interacted with our nonprofit partners - whether they’ve signed a petition, donated, subscribed to updates or otherwise shown an interest in the cause.
You’ll:
Speak with nonprofit supporters across Canada
Have meaningful conversations about social, environmental and humanitarian issues
Tell stories and explain why a cause matters
Build trust and connection using your voice
Ask supporters to become long-term monthly donors
Respond thoughtfully to questions, concerns and rejection
Work toward clear fundraising goals
Participate in regular coaching, workshops and feedback
Continuously develop your communication and fundraising skills
Fundraising isn't always easy.
You’ll hear “no” much more often than “yes.”
The people who thrive here are resilient communicators who can stay warm, confident and enthusiastic even after a difficult conversation.
We use ethical, respectful fundraising practices. We’re not looking for aggressive sales tactics. We’re looking for people who can genuinely connect with others and make a compelling case for something they believe in.
Because you’ll be making real-time fundraising calls from home, your setup is essential.
You must have:
A desktop or laptop running Windows 11 or newer
Reliable high-speed internet with at least 50 Mbps download / 30 Mbps upload
A wired headset with microphone
A private, quiet workspace where you can take calls without interruption
A reliable internet connection - wired Ethernet is strongly preferred
Basic technical confidence and the ability to troubleshoot simple issues independently
MacBooks are unfortunately not compatible with our calling system.
You’ll complete a technology check during the hiring process, including an internet speed and voice connection test.
If you don’t currently have access to a Windows 11+ computer and reliable high-speed internet, this role won’t be the right fit.
Experience in communications, advocacy, theatre, performing arts, education, hospitality, customer service, public speaking, sales or community work can translate especially well.
What matters most is that you:
Are a confident and engaging communicator
Can tell a story and make someone care about it
Enjoy talking with different kinds of people
Can persuade someone without being pushy
Care about social, environmental or humanitarian issues
Are comfortable hearing “no” and moving forward
Are motivated by goals
Take coaching well
Can work independently and reliably from home
Unlike face-to-face fundraising, you can’t rely on body language or a handshake.
Your voice is your tool.
Strong phone fundraisers communicate warmth, trust, confidence, humour, urgency and passion through conversation alone.
As part of our application process, we’ll ask you to submit a short voice or video introduction. No professional recording is required - we simply want to hear how you communicate.
This is a guaranteed hourly wage - not commission.
$19-$24/hour
Starting rate: $19/hour
Regular opportunities to increase your hourly rate based on hours worked, performance and consistency
Performance-based bonuses and incentives
Paid training
Paid time off
Benefits after 6 months of full-time employment

Strong performers can earn more as they build experience and consistently meet their goals.
We’re primarily looking for people who can commit to a consistent schedule.
Minimum 32 hours per week
Four 8-hour shifts minimum
Monday-Friday
Shifts scheduled between 11 AM and 9 PM in your local time
Strong part-time candidates may be considered in some circumstances, but our primary need is for people who can commit to 32+ hours per week.
Fundraising is a skill that can be developed.
You’ll receive paid training, ongoing coaching, workshops and regular feedback while working toward clear goals with a team supporting you.
Most importantly, you’ll use your communication skills to help nonprofit organizations build the long-term support they need to create change.
If you care about important causes, love talking to people and want to get really good at turning conversations into action, we’d love to hear from you.
Public Outreach is an equal opportunity employer. Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome, and accommodations are available throughout the hiring process.
