Job summary

Robots & Pencils is seeking a Staff Mobile Engineer to lead architecture and delivery of complex iOS and Android apps. You will set standards, drive scalable mobile platforms, and own end-to-end technical strategy.

In this role you will mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership, and ensure performance, reliability, and security are baked into mobile systems while embracing AI-forward tooling to ship high-quality work quickly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mobile development experience across iOS and Android.
• Expert in Swift and Kotlin.
• Deep experience with SwiftUI/UIKit and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, and WebSockets.
• Strong CI/CD and release management.
• Experience with monitoring/observability and security best practices.
• Leadership and mentorship experience.

Responsibilities

• Define mobile architecture and technical strategy across iOS and Android.
• Lead design and implementation of scalable mobile platforms and complex UI.
• Define mobile development standards and contribute to shared design systems.
• Drive mobile performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Own mobile security practices including authentication, secure storage.
• Lead monitoring, crash reporting, and observability across production apps.
• Own CI/CD strategy and release management to App Store and Google Play.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with leadership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align tech decisions with product goals.
