Job summary

You will collaborate with cloud-native teams, implement guardrails, and drive reliability improvements while maintaining strong security and observability practices across scalable platforms.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in reliability, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Hands-on production load testing and chaos engineering experience.
• Experience with chaos engineering vendors (Gremlin/Harness).
• Strong knowledge of failure modes in distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud-native environments (AWS, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the vision for resilience engineering at affirm.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers building platforms and tooling.
• Partner with leadership to embed resilience validation into SDLC.
• Establish best practices for testing in production.
• Own design of platforms enabling safe production load testing and fault injection.
• Ensure safeguards: isolation, approvals, automated rollback.
• Build end-to-end observability and auditability for resilience experiments.
• Drive reliability improvements via load testing and chaos experiments.
