Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Automotive Powertrain Calibration Engineer to guide a fully remote engineering team. You will shape calibration strategies for internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains, driving performance, efficiency, and emissions improvements.

You will lead a distributed group of calibration engineers, collaborate with design, controls, and validation teams, and champion new tools and methodologies to stay at the forefront of powertrain technology.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in automotive powertrain development; at least 5 years in calibration.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and complex projects.
• Deep expertise in engine control, thermodynamics, and combustion. Reg-based testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of calibration engineers across programs.
• Develop and implement calibration strategies for IC engines and hybrids to optimize performance, fuel economy, and emissions.
• Oversee engine dynamometer and vehicle testing; validate calibration strategies via data analysis.
• Define calibration requirements from regulations, performance targets, and customer needs.
• Ensure timely completion of calibration tasks for new programs and model-year updates.
• Collaborate with engine design, controls, and validation teams to solve calibration challenges.
• Advocate adoption of new calibration tools and methods.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of procedures, parameters, and results.
• Stay current with emerging powertrain tech and emissions regulations.
