Job summary

Dexterra Group is seeking a Food and Beverage Supervisor to manage dining room operations in a remote Nunavut lodge, reporting to the Lodge manager and collaborating with the Chef. You will coach staff, ensure meal service standards, and uphold company policies while overseeing set-up, service, and offsite transport needs.

The role offers a 3-week on/3-week off rotation with meals and accommodations provided, travel from Edmonton hub, private room, Wi‑Fi, laundry, gym access, and growth

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in the food service industry or hotel management.
  • SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP is an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract required before start.
  • Production experience with large-quantity menu items.
  • Experience supervising and training a team.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and POS equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise dining room operations in a remote lodge setting.
  • Transport staff and suppliers to offsite locations as needed.
  • Train and mentor staff on dining room and lunchroom standards.
  • Set up dining rooms daily and prepare lunchrooms for each meal service.
  • Serve guests, perform audits, manage inventory, assist in kitchen as required.
  • Produce menu items in large volumes.

Job Description
WHAT’S THE JOB?

The Food and Beverage Supervisor will report directly to the Lodge manager and will work closely with the Chef and Manager to ensure meal service standards in Food and Beverage and offsite lunchrooms are maintained. Duties to include coaching, training, and upholding company standards.

THE position involves a remote work lifestyle in a Nunavut camp setting with the following amenities:
  • All meals and accommodations are provided
  • Travel is provided to and from the site locations from a designated hub location in Edmonton, AB
  • Private room with cable television
  • Access to Wi-Fi
  • Access to laundry facilities and detergents
  • Access to a gym and common areas
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervising the work conducted with the dining room within a remote lodge setting
  • Responsible for driving themselves, staff, and food suppliers to the offsite locations
  • Train staff on dining room and lunchroom standards and continue to mentor staff
  • Daily set up of the dining room and offsite lunchrooms for each meal service, which includes but not limited to arranging place settings at tables, setting salad bar, cleaning, and stocking
  • Serving guests, auditing, inventory, assisting in kitchen where required and other duties as required
  • Production of menu items in large volumes
Physical Demands:
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Climb ladders and stairs
  • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
  • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
  • Work with arms above shoulder height
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • 3 years of experience in the food service industry, hotel management
  • SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and recent clean driver’s abstract will be required prior to position commencement
  • Production experience preparing menu items in large volumes
  • Experience in supervising and training ateam
  • You have an ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision, and as a team player
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe software including POS equipment
  • Able to effectively handle the concerns of employees, customers, and clients with tact while adhering to confidentiality policies
  • Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Work schedule and remuneration:

Food and Beverage Drivers work on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis and include a starting rate of $21.00.
