Job summary

Dexterra Group is seeking a Food and Beverage Supervisor for a remote Nunavut lodge, reporting to the Lodge manager and collaborating with the Chef and Manager to uphold service standards. You will coach, train, and coach staff while ensuring consistent dining room and lunchroom operations.

The role involves a 3-week on/3-week off rotation, travel to site locations from Edmonton, private room, meals and accommodations provided, and access to Wi‑Fi and gym facilities.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in the food service industry or hotel management.
  • SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract required prior to start.
  • Production experience preparing menu items in large volumes.
  • Experience supervising and training a team.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with POS equipment.
  • Able to handle concerns with tact and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise dining room operations in a remote lodge setting.
  • Coordinate transport of staff, food and supplies to offsite locations.
  • Train staff on dining room and lunchroom standards and mentor team.
  • Set up dining room and offsite lunchrooms for each service, arrange settings, stock, and clean.
  • Serve guests, perform audits and manage inventory; assist in kitchen when needed.
  • Produce menu items in large volumes to meet service needs.

Job Description
WHAT’S THE JOB?

The Food and Beverage Supervisor will report directly to the Lodge manager and will work closely with the Chef and Manager to ensure meal service standards in Food and Beverage and offsite lunchrooms are maintained. Duties to include coaching, training, and upholding company standards.

THE position involves a remote work lifestyle in a Nunavut camp setting with the following amenities:
  • All meals and accommodations are provided
  • Travel is provided to and from the site locations from a designated hub location in Edmonton, AB
  • Private room with cable television
  • Access to Wi-Fi
  • Access to laundry facilities and detergents
  • Access to a gym and common areas
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervising the work conducted with the dining room within a remote lodge setting
  • Responsible for driving themselves, staff, and food suppliers to the offsite locations
  • Train staff on dining room and lunchroom standards and continue to mentor staff
  • Daily set up of the dining room and offsite lunchrooms for each meal service, which includes but not limited to arranging place settings at tables, setting salad bar, cleaning, and stocking
  • Serving guests, auditing, inventory, assisting in kitchen where required and other duties as required
  • Production of menu items in large volumes
Physical Demands:
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Climb ladders and stairs
  • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
  • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
  • Work with arms above shoulder height
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • 3 years of experience in the food service industry, hotel management

  • Production experience preparing menu items in large volumes
  • Experience in supervising and training ateam
  • You have an ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision, and as a team player
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe software including POS equipment
  • Able to effectively handle the concerns of employees, customers, and clients with tact while adhering to confidentiality policies
  • Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Work schedule and remuneration:

Food and Beverage Drivers work on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis and include a starting rate of $21.00.
