Job summary

The Alberta Chapter of The Wildlife Society (ACTWS) is seeking an Executive Director to support the day-to-day operations and continued growth of the Chapter.

Working closely with the Board of Directors, committees, volunteers, and partners, the Executive Director will lead program development and coordination, events planning, communications and outreach, and Chapter initiatives that strengthen the wildlife professionals' community and promote science-based wildlife conservation in Alberta.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in environmental sciences, nonprofit management, or wildlife-related field.
  • Strong connection to professionals in wildlife in Alberta and beyond.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience organizing and leading volunteers.
  • Familiarity with not-for-profit board governance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead outreach and communication initiatives to grow ACTWS profile and wildlife profession in Alberta.
  • Plan and support public outreach events and professional development programs, including webinars and workshops.
  • Assist with planning the annual ACTWS conference and participate in its organization.
  • Identify funding and partnership opportunities; organize volunteers for events.
  • Provide monthly written progress reports to the Board; support committees and strategic planning.
  • Develop annual budget and multi-year financial plan; ensure financial controls.
