Job summary

WSP is seeking a Wildlife Group Manager to lead our Prairies & North Wildlife team, delivering science-based solutions across infrastructure, mining, energy, and environmental projects. Based in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, or Winnipeg, you will provide both people leadership and technical direction while shaping strategy and growing wildlife services in the region.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting with leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and assessment frameworks across Western and Northern Canada.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and support business development.
  • Demonstrated leadership with ability to mentor and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders.
  • Commitment to technical excellence including proposal development, technical reviews, and reporting.
  • Professional designation (e.g., R.P.Biol., P.Biol., or eligibility) and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing wildlife team, setting priorities and ensuring successful delivery of projects and client commitments.
  • Champion people leadership practices including mentorship, career development, performance management, recruitment, onboarding, and engagement.
  • Partner with the Director to drive operational/financial performance, monitor team metrics, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other Group Managers and leaders to optimize resources and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Promote collaboration across teams and regions while upholding policy and Vision.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive work environment with emphasis on health and well-being.
  • Contribute to growth through client relationship management, business development, and strategic planning.
  • Provide guidance and direction on wildlife and environmental projects to ensure technical excellence.
