Job summary

Lakehead University is seeking a Specialist, Employer Relations & Industry Partnerships to develop and maintain relationships that connect early career talent with workplaces across Ontario. You will support employment outcomes, collaborate with student-facing staff, and help create co-op opportunities aligned with academic requirements.

The role requires strong relationship-building, a client-service mindset, and comfort working remotely with occasional campus travel.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years in career development, employment counselling, or related roles.
• Willingness to work primarily in a remote capacity with weekly campus travel in Ontario.
• Strong relationship-building and networking skills across diverse audiences.
• Customer service oriented with a solutions-focused approach.
• Ability to discuss labour market conditions, career pathways and credentials.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain partnerships with employers across Ontario to connect early career talent with workplaces.
• Collaborate with student-facing colleagues to provide employment advising and introductions to hiring managers.
• Develop co-op and career opportunities, negotiating terms to align with co-op requirements.
• Conduct site visits and provide coaching to students and employers; relay feedback to academic partners.
• Plan and coordinate on- and off-campus employment and career events for students, alumni, and partners.
• Maintain accurate records of appointments and interactions in CRM systems.
• Represent the University in community and digital environments and at events; build employer relationships.
• Manage a portfolio to meet KPIs for student outcomes and employer satisfaction.
