Job summary

Jobgether is partnering with a client in Canada to hire a Senior Db2/IMS Database Administrator. The role focuses on maintaining IBM Db2 for z/OS and IMS databases in large-scale production environments, with emphasis on performance, security, and recoverability.

You will collaborate across application, infrastructure, and operations teams, participate in on-call rotations, and drive operational excellence through documentation, runbooks, and best practices. Remote within Canada.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years hands-on IBM Db2 for z/OS and IMS DB/DC administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of Db2 backup/recovery utilities and IMS recovery/reorganization tools.
• Proficient with z/OS, JCL, and TSO/ISPF for daily operations.
• Ability to document procedures and maintain operational runbooks.
• Familiar with ITIL-based incident, change, and problem processes.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize IBM Db2 for z/OS and IMS databases.
• Create, modify, and maintain database objects; support related teams.
• Monitor health, availability, performance, and storage; address bottlenecks.
• Execute backup, recovery, DR procedures; participate in DR exercises.
• Resolve production incidents and coordinate with teams during critical events.
• Support IMS DBRC/RECON, DBD/PSB/ACB management, and IMS utilities.
• Maintain technical docs and operational runbooks; follow ITIL practices.
• Provide database design guidance to development teams for stability.
