Job summary

BMO in Toronto is seeking a Senior DB2 DBA to optimize and lead Db2 for z/OS environments, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing database platforms for enterprise workloads. You will design and deploy robust database solutions, perform tuning, implement backup/recovery strategies, and collaborate with development teams for resilient data services.

The role supports a hybrid work model with two onsite days weekly.

Qualifications

7+ years hands-on experience supporting Db2 for z/OS environments.
Proven experience with Db2 z/OS Version 12 or higher.
Strong expertise in database design, implementation, administration, and maintenance.
Solid experience with z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and mainframe technologies.

Responsibilities

Administer, monitor, and support enterprise-scale Db2 for z/OS environments.
Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions in non-production environments.
Prepare and deploy database changes through established change management processes into production environments.
Partner with application development teams to deliver high-quality, performant, and resilient database solutions.
Perform logical and physical database design while ensuring adherence to enterprise standards for data integrity, security, and performance.
Provide expert guidance on SQL design, SQL optimization, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, stored procedures, and database architecture.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database, application, and connectivity issues, including distributed applications utilizing JDBC and ODBC/CLI connectivity.
Analyze and optimize database performance to support business-critical workloads.
Develop and maintain database security standards, governance practices, and operational procedures.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, automation opportunities, and modernization efforts across the database ecosystem.
Collaborate with cross-functional technology teams to support strategic projects and enterprise transformation initiatives.
