Job summary

Business Sherpa Group is seeking a full-time Controller for its Cloud-Based Accounting Practice. Working remotely from Canada, you will support delivery of accurate and timely accounting services to a portfolio of clients, collaborating with CFOs, account managers, and technical teams to ensure high-quality financial leadership.

You'll lead and mentor a small team of accounting professionals, oversee month-end close, ensure compliance with GAAP and IFRS, and identify opportunities to improve

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in SMEs or similar environments.
• Proven leadership and ability to mentor a small team.
• Strong client-service orientation and communication skills.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and cloud-based accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted financial advisor to a portfolio of clients, delivering value through financial leadership.
• Review financial statements, reporting packages, and analyses for accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, cash flow management, and financial reporting across client engagements.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Lead client engagements, coordinating accountants and specialists to ensure high-quality service.
• Mentor and support junior team members through coaching and reviews.
• Resolve complex accounting and operational challenges with sound judgment.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
