Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Back End Developer to design, build, and optimize server-side systems and APIs that power AI products, from data pipelines to scalable microservices handling real-world traffic.

This is a fully remote hourly contract open to engineers in Montreal and across Canada. You’ll collaborate with researchers and product leads, write clean, well-documented code, and contribute to AI-adjacent infrastructure projects on your own schedule.

Qualifications

• Proficient in one or more back end languages (Python, Go, Java, Node.js, Rust).
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Comfortable with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiar with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust back end services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Build scalable server-side architecture to support AI training and inference workloads.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following engineering best practices.
• Integrate with databases, message queues, cloud services, and third-party APIs.
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Work asynchronously with distributed teams of engineers, researchers, and product leads.
