Closer to Home Community Services in Medicine Hat, AB is seeking a Relief Staff member to support children and youth in a group home and residential program, including day/evening or Awake Overnight shifts.

The role emphasizes safety, structured routines, crisis management, and collaboration with a professional team; candidates must meet non-negotiable compliance requirements and have reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• A diploma or degree in a related field is preferred and previous experience with vulnerable children and families is an asset.
• Experience with vulnerable children, youth and families is an asset; education and experience will be considered.
• Knowledge and experience supporting children and youth exhibiting challenging behaviours.
• Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Requires use of personal vehicle, Class 5 Alberta license, and $2M liability insurance.
• Police information check and Intervention record check completed prior to commencement.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily activities and routines, maintain a structured setting and support skill development.
• Manage crises and ensure high safety supervision while assisting with school.
• Support safety and daily needs of children and youth in community settings.
• Participate in supervision and meetings and implement treatment strategies.
• Cover shifts as needed, minimum three shifts per month.
