Job summary

Calgary John Howard Society is seeking a Relief Support Worker for Berkana House, a CRF for women on conditional release. The role focuses on resident safety, trauma-informed care, and supporting positive reintegration through conversations, role modeling, and activity engagement.

Candidates should have post-secondary education or relevant experience, strong boundaries, excellent communication, and crisis intervention skills, including overnight shift availability and a current criminal record

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will have relevant post-secondary education and/or relevant experience.
• Understanding of women-centered practice in the criminal justice system.
• Strong boundaries, effective communication, crisis prevention and intervention skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure well-being, safety and security of residents and the facility.
• Provide ongoing support to residents through conversation and modeling behaviours.
• Engage residents in activities to promote positive reintegration.
• Supervise resident activities in-house and in the community.
