Job summary

LandSea Camp Services is seeking a Relief Chef for a remote BC camp. You will prepare high-quality dishes, plan menus, and supervise kitchen operations on site. The role requires leadership, strict safety standards, and adaptability to long shifts in a remote environment.

The temporary position runs Sep 3 to Oct 8, 2026, with 10- or 12-hour shifts, meals and accommodation provided, and travel paid for inbound/outbound trips. Health benefits and uniform provisions are included.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years Chef experience preferably in remote camp or hotel/hospitality industries.
  • Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Cook trade or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Valid WHMIS and Food Safe Advanced and First Aid Certifications are mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership and team management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Plan menus and contribute new dishes or seasonal features.
  • Oversee food preparation and kitchen staff (if applicable).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff.
  • Manage inventory, food costs, and ordering supplies.
  • Maintain food costs at acceptable levels, including portion control.
  • Ensure daily communication with employees and management including Toolbox Talks.
  • Ensure guests/clients at site receive superior customer service.

About Working in Remote Camps


  • Our camps are located in remote areas and staff live on-site on scheduled shifts and leave camp on scheduled breaks.

  • Most of our LandSea camps offer individual staff accommodation, ensuite or shared bathroom, full meals, WIFI and some have health/gym facilities for staff.

  • Camp staff work long hours and multiple days in a row. A typical workday is between 10-12 hours (day or night shift) and overtime rates apply.

  • Health and Safety and a Respectful Workplace are essential for everyone working together at LandSea. Our camps are drug and alcohol-free workplaces and require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.


The Relief Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining kitchen operations, and ensuring a consistent and safe food environment.


About the Job, Benefits and Perks


  • Temporary position: September 3 to October 8, 2026

  • $24.62 to $27.70 per hour Overtime pay

  • Schedule: 10-hour or 12-hour shifts depending on operational needs

  • Inbound and Outbound travel paid for by Landsea for all Chef positions

Camp Location

This camp is remote and located approximately 1 hour Northeast of Prince George, BC. Our team organizes all logistics and travel for employees to get to and from camp.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations

  • Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff

  • Manage inventory, food costs, and ordering supplies

  • Maintain food costs at acceptable levels, ensure portion control, including maximum utilization of employees and equipment

  • Ensure daily communication with employees and management including conducting daily Toolbox Talks

  • Ensure guests/clients at site receive superior customer service

  • Adhere to all safety practices, procedures and guidelines


This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
