Job summary

LandSea Camp Services, part of the Aramark Canada family, is seeking an experienced Chef for remote camps in British Columbia. You will prepare high-quality meals, oversee kitchen operations, and ensure a safe food environment while supporting on-site teams.

The role offers 10- or 12-hour shifts, a 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, meals and accommodation on site, travel paid by LandSea, and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years Chef experience in remote camp or hospitality environments.
  • Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Cook trade is mandatory.
  • WHMIS and Food Safe Advanced and First Aid certifications required.
  • Strong cooking techniques and food safety knowledge.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and standards.
  • Plan menus and contribute new dishes or seasonal features.
  • Oversee food preparation and kitchen staff.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Mentor kitchen staff and manage inventory and costs.
  • Maintain portion control and maximize resource usage.
  • Communicate daily with staff and management for safety and service.
  • Provide guests with superior service and maintain safety practices.

About Working In Remote Camps
  • Our camps are located in remote areas and staff live on-site on scheduled shifts and leave camp on scheduled breaks.
  • Most of our LandSea camps offer individual staff accommodation, ensuite or shared bathroom, full meals, WIFI and some have health/gym facilities for staff.
  • Camp staff work long hours and multiple days in a row. A typical workday is between 10-12 hours (day or night shift) and overtime rates apply.
  • Health and Safety and a Respectful Workplace are essential for everyone working together at LandSea. Our camps are drug and alcohol-free workplaces and require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

The Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining kitchen operations, and ensuring a consistent and safe food environment.

About The Job, Benefits And Perks
  • $26.68 to $28.73 per hour Overtime pay
  • Schedule: 10-hour or 12-hour shifts depending on operational needs
  • Rotation: 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off or 20 days in and 10 days out
  • Inbound and Outbound travel paid for by Landsea for all Chef positions

Job Qualifications
  • 5+ years Chef experience preferably in remote camp or hotel/hospitality industries
  • Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Cook trade or equivalent is mandatory

  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
  • Plan menus and contribute new dishes or seasonal features
  • Oversee food preparation and kitchen staff (if applicable)
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff
  • Manage inventory, food costs, and ordering supplies
  • Maintain food costs at acceptable levels, ensure portion control, including maximum utilization of employees and equipment
  • Ensure daily communication with employees and management including conducting daily Toolbox Talks
  • Ensure guests/clients at site receive superior customer service
  • Adhere to all safety practices, procedures and guidelines

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
