Job summary

Astra-North Infoteck Inc. in Toronto is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and a passion for automation to strengthen our cloud services.

You will automate toil, manage incidents, define SLOs, and build observability pipelines using Prometheus, Grafana, and other modern tools, collaborating across engineering teams to improve reliability.

This full-time role offers on-site work in Toronto and the chance to impact scalable systems in a fast-moving company.

Qualifications

• Experience developing software in Java or a comparable object-oriented language.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP methods, JSON, and API design principles.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot or another modern backend framework.
• Experience writing automated unit tests and debugging application failures.
• Familiarity with Git and pull-request-based development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Automate manual tasks to reduce toil through code and tooling.
• Incident response and management, on-call rotations, troubleshooting, and restoring service.
• Define and manage SLOs/SLAs and error budgets to balance speed with reliability.
• Set up monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, or PagerDuty.
• Conduct root cause analyses through post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence.
• Capacity planning based on traffic and usage patterns.
• Collaborate with software developers to design resilient architectures.
